External Data#

PyTomography requires using a variety of external data sources to obtain parameters required for tasks like PSF modeling in SPECT and converting CT data to attenuation maps.

NIST#

PyTomography uses data from NIST (link) to get attenuation coefficients for different elemental media and compounds. This is used for (i) obtaining attenuation maps from CT data and (ii) computing a correction factor for collimators that use lead.

SPECT Collimator Data#

Collimator data for SPECT imaging was obtained from the collim.col file of the SIMIND Monte Carlo program. The values in the “Code” column are used for the collimator_name argument of theget_psfmeta_from_scanner_params function from pytomography.io.SPECT. The supported collimators/codes are listed below.
